Berlin-Hamburg General Renovation: Shuttle Service Expanded - Brandenburg's Public Transport: Line P Discontinued, Line R Boosted, Berlin - Hamburg Route Renovation Underway
Brandenburg's public transport is set for changes. Additional buses will serve route R, while route P will be discontinued. Meanwhile, the Berlin - Hamburg route renovation is underway, with substitute bus services planned.
Starting November 1, route P between Ludwigslust and Quitzow will cease operation due to low usage. The Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) will introduce additional bus connections in heavily used areas around Nauen and Falkensee from December 15, 2024.
Route R via Falkensee, Wustermark, and Nauen will see three buses an hour, and new short connections will be created in Dallgow-Döberitz towards Falkensee and Berlin. Route X4 between Kyritz and Quitzow or Wittenberge will reduce to one bus per hour due to low demand.
The state of Brandenburg and the VBB are coordinating substitute traffic for the Berlin - Hamburg route renovation. During the closure, buses will serve affected communities. The aim is to tailor services to actual demand and prevent empty trips. Additional trips will also connect Nauen and Wustermark to route RB21.
These changes aim to improve efficiency and connectivity. Route P's discontinuation and route R's increased service reflect demand patterns. The Berlin - Hamburg route renovation's substitute traffic ensures communities remain connected during the works.
