Brandenburg's Zukunftspreis 2026 Seeks Innovative Volunteer Projects by May 22
Brandenburg's Minister-President Dr. Dietmar Woidke has launched the fifth edition of the Zukunftspreis Brandenburg community involvement award. The competition invites project ideas that help associations tackle future challenges while promoting social cohesion and democratic participation. Organisers are now accepting submissions online until 22 May 2026.
This year's competition centres on ensuring the long-term sustainability of volunteer work. The jury will prioritise initiatives that ease emotional strain on volunteers, encourage broad participation, and reinforce social connections. Since its inception, the Zukunftspreis Brandenburg has awarded 192 prizes across 21 editions.
The 2026 edition offers a total prize fund of €15,000. One top winner will receive €5,000, two runners-up will get €2,500 each, and five additional projects will be granted €1,000. Winners will be announced in early October and honoured at a ceremony hosted by the Minister-President.
The awards ceremony will take place in October, where the selected projects will gain public recognition. Successful entries will demonstrate innovative ways to strengthen community bonds and secure the future of volunteer-led associations. The deadline for online submissions remains open until 22 May 2026.
