Braunschweig Greens reveal 116-strong team for 2026 local elections

The Green Party in Braunschweig has unveiled its full candidate list for the upcoming local elections on 13 September 2026. With 116 nominees, the party is presenting its largest team yet, covering all eight city council districts. Leonore Köhler and Gordon Schnepel will lead the ticket as the top two candidates.

The Greens have assembled a mix of seasoned politicians and newcomers, aiming to bring both experience and fresh ideas to the city council. Key issues on their agenda include climate protection, affordable housing, and improved transport options.

The party's master list features 16 leading candidates, including Cristina Antonelli-Ngameni, Sabine Kunkel-Grabenhorst, Sabine Kluth, and Laura Behrens. Others in prominent positions are Kai Brunzel, Jona Ebert, Dr. Jens Krumsieck, and Stella Menke. The full slate also includes Jonas Wolf, Bianca Braunschweig, Felix Langer, Dr. Daniela Wachsmuth, Carolin Borggrefe, and Timo Hickisch. Over the coming weeks, the Greens plan to step up engagement with residents across Braunschweig's neighbourhoods. The campaign will focus on direct dialogue to address local concerns and present their policy priorities.

The party's expanded candidate list reflects its ambition to strengthen representation in the city council. With elections set for September 2026, the Greens will now push their platform through public discussions and outreach. Their focus remains on climate action, housing affordability, and sustainable urban development.
