Bremen MP Holger Fricke Quits Party, Citing Disputes, Joins New Group

Holger Fricke, a member of the Bremen Parliament, has left his political faction, Bündnis Deutschland, citing a lack of team spirit and internal disputes. He will join a new parliamentary group, 'Bürgerallianz Bremen/Bremerhaven', to improve his chances of re-election. His departure has sparked a debate about voter trust and political loyalty.

Fricke, who has kept his mandate as an independent deputy, was critical of his former faction's handling of dwindling poll numbers and the absence of a faction retreat. He felt unsupported and saw no political home in the federal faction due to constant disputes and departures. The Bündnis Deutschland faction disputes Fricke's account of the reasons for his departure.

Last year, the faction held a full-day work meeting led by an external party in Bremerhaven, with Fricke present. Despite this, Fricke felt that the faction had not succeeded in 'emancipating itself from the obscurity of an insignificant splinter faction', as stated by Holger Fricke. Jan Timke, chairman of the Bündnis Deutschland faction, has called for Fricke to resign his mandate, stating that anything else would be a betrayal of the voters.

Holger Fricke's departure and subsequent joining of a new parliamentary group raise questions about voter trust and political loyalty. The Bündnis Deutschland faction and Fricke himself hold differing views on the reasons for his departure. As Fricke remains an independent deputy for now, the political landscape in Bremen continues to evolve.
