Bremen police launch crackdown on violent crime in Neustadt district
Bremen police have stepped up patrols in the Neustadt district after a rise in violent incidents. A special task force, named Focus, was set up to tackle the issue. Officers carried out a large-scale operation involving multiple agencies.
The joint patrols included police, customs, and public order services. Teams focused on traffic stops, vehicle checks, and searches of passengers. They also monitored known meeting points, kiosks, shisha bars, and local shops.
Around 40 people were questioned during the operation. Searches along several streets led to the seizure of illegal items. Officers confiscated drugs, flick knives, baseball bats, and a modified metal rod. Reports have since been filed in connection with the seized items.
The operation reflects ongoing efforts to address crime in Neustadt. Authorities have not released further details about the task force's long-term plans. The confiscated weapons and drugs will be part of continuing investigations.
