This picture is clicked outside the city. At the bottom, we see the road. On either side of the road, we see the poles and the buildings. On the left side, we see the people are standing. Beside them, we see a trolley cart. On the right side, we see a man and the women are standing on the footpath. Behind them, we see a purple color garbage bin. We see the flower pots. Bremen’s Blue Caravan and Café Sophie win award for empowering marginalised groups

Two Bremen-based initiatives, the Blue Caravan and Café Sophie, received the Arbeit-Zukunft drum award on 13 March 2023. The prize honours their dedication to supporting marginalised groups and providing practical work training. A jury from the Ecumenical Service in the World of Work Bremen (KDA) selected the winners for their innovative approaches.

The Blue Caravan focuses on integrating socially disadvantaged people, particularly those with mental or physical illnesses and disabilities. Their work helps marginalised individuals regain stability and access opportunities. Meanwhile, Café Sophie operates within Bremen East Hospital, where patients and therapists run the café together. This setup allows patients to develop job skills in a real-world setting.

The Arbeit-Zukunft drum award recognises the Blue Caravan’s integration efforts and Café Sophie’s hands-on training programme. These initiatives continue to provide essential support for vulnerable groups in Bremen. Their work ensures that people facing barriers can build skills and confidence in a structured environment.
