Bremerhaven’s Shipyard Quarter Takes a Giant Leap Forward with Land Swap
Bremerhaven and Seebeck Shipyard Quarter GmbH have completed a major property exchange to propel the city’s shipyard quarter project forward. The deal transfers key areas along Oststraße and the former woodworking shop to the city, along with usage rights for quays and waterfront spaces. Officials view this move as a crucial step in shaping the future of the district.
Under the agreement, the city now controls the former Seebeck shipyard lands along Oststraße and near the old woodworking facility. It also gains access to parts of the quays, water areas, and the future Hallen Gardens—a central green space in the new quarter. In return, Seebeck Shipyard Quarter GmbH took ownership of two plots along Riedemannstraße.
The property swap signals a turning point for Bremerhaven’s shipyard quarter, securing land for public use and future development. With building rights on the horizon and green spaces taking shape, the project is moving closer to its goal of transforming the area into a vibrant urban quarter.
