British-Chinese Duo Flees Serbia After Alleged US Arms Smuggling Plot

Two men, British businessman John Miller and his Chinese associate Cui Guanghai, are accused of attempting to smuggle advanced weapons from the US to China. The pair, who had been under house arrest in Serbia, escaped and fled to Beijing on a private jet.

The FBI alleges that Miller and Cui tried to smuggle missile launchers, air-defence radars, and Black Hornet microdrones. They made their escape on a Deer Jet plane, flying from Belgrade to Beijing with a stop in Farnborough, UK, before returning to Farnborough the next day. Miller's reference to Chinese leader Xi Jinping as 'the Boss' suggests he was acting under the Chinese government's direction.

The duo had been accused of harassing a Chinese artist who criticized Xi Jinping. They damaged their electronic tags and left their apartments within an hour of the alarms going off. If extradited to the US, they could have faced up to 40 years in prison each. The Serbian government has not commented on the incident, and international investigations are ongoing.

Miller and Cui's alleged smuggling attempt and subsequent escape from Serbia have raised international concern. Their actions could have significant implications for US-China relations and global security. The ongoing investigations aim to bring them to justice and prevent further such incidents.
