British Museum's Inaugural Ball Draws Stars, Celebrates India's Culture
The British Airways Museum hosted its inaugural fundraising ball this weekend, drawing 900 guests including celebrities and former U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The event, co-chaired by arts patron Isha Ambani and museum director Nicholas Cullinan, supported international partnerships and coincided with the 'Ancient India: Living Traditions' exhibition.
The ball's theme celebrated India's vibrant colors and light, reflected in Isha Ambani's Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla couture. Guests enjoyed performances by Anoushka Shankar and Jules Buckley Orchestra. The event aimed to strengthen ties with countries like India, Nigeria, and Iraq. Next year, the museum plans a cultural exchange with the Bayeux Tapestry Museum in Normandy, France, which will also showcase some of the U.K.'s greatest treasures from Sutton Hoo.
The British Airways Museum's first fundraising ball successfully raised funds and awareness for its international partnerships. The event, inspired by India's rich culture, marked a significant step in the museum's global engagement. Next year's exchange with the Bayeux Tapestry Museum promises to further enrich this collaboration.
