BUNT's 'p(ost) berlin' Conference Unites Post-Ost Communities
BUNT, a foundation promoting language and culture courses, recently hosted a significant event from August 6th to 8th. The meeting, titled 'p(ost) berlin', brought together Post-Ost communities in Germany, marking the first conference of a joint initiative between BUNT and the federal program Democracy lives.
The event featured a lecture by Wladimir Weinberg, managing director of the Federal Association of Russian-speaking Parents e.V. (BVRE). Weinberg discussed the importance of building strong communities, emphasizing that cooperation in associations is based on trust and lacks a strict hierarchy.
The conference provided a platform for various organizations supporting migrants from former Eastern Bloc countries. The Children and Youth Association JunOst, which supports young people with a Russian-speaking cultural background, was present. Mavka Berlin, a volunteer project for environmental protection, migration, and social integration, also participated, mainly consisting of refugees from Ukraine. The Frauenpower Ukrainian Women Integration Association in Saxony-Anhalt, dedicated to supporting Ukrainian women in German society, was another notable attendee. The German-Kazakh Society e.V., which has been building bridges between Kazakhstan and Germany since 1997, was also represented.
The conference aimed to foster dialogue, identity, and diversity among migrants. It was the first personal meeting of its kind, bringing together around 750,000 registered associations in Germany that maintain an association's treasury, conclude legal transactions, and minimize liability risks.
