Burladingen house fire causes six-figure damage after garage blaze spreads
A residential fire in Burladingen has left a home severely damaged after flames spread from a garage. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but the blaze caused extensive destruction estimated in the low six figures. Fortunately, all residents escaped without injury. The incident began when firefighters received reports of a garage ablaze. Despite their efforts, the flames quickly reached the neighbouring single-family house. Seven fire trucks and around 50 responders were called to tackle the situation.
Investigators suspect the fire may have started due to improper handling of hot ashes from a tile stove. The resulting damage left parts of the property uninhabitable, with both fire and smoke causing significant harm. No official records detail how often such incidents occur in Germany. Searches for data on fires linked to tiled stove ashes in recent years yielded no relevant results.
The home now faces costly repairs, with losses running into the tens of thousands. Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause, but improper ash disposal remains the leading theory. Residents will need alternative accommodation while assessments continue.
