Business collaboration: Airbus and Bristow Group agree on potential deal for 15 H135 helicopters
In a significant move, Airbus Helicopters and Bristow Group have announced a partnership that includes a framework contract for up to fifteen H135 helicopters. This agreement, announced at HAI Heli-Expo 2024, underscores the confidence Bristow has placed in Airbus Helicopters' innovative aircraft.
The H135, with over 1,500 helicopters delivered worldwide, boasts a proven track record, particularly in offshore missions. Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, expressed his gratitude for Bristow's renewed trust in their helicopters.
The H135's performance is attributed to Airbus Helicopters' Helionix avionics suite, which reduces pilot workload and increases safety. Key features of the H135 include its advanced capability for instrument flight rules (IFR) operations, a digital automatic flight control system (AFCS), and a highly configurable, mission-adaptable cabin setup.
The H135 offers excellent visibility for pilots, with features like vertical reference windows that enhance situational awareness without compromising aerodynamics or speed. It is also equipped with modern avionics and autopilot systems that improve mission effectiveness.
Benefits stressed in such partnerships typically include operational flexibility across a wide range of missions, such as emergency medical services, law enforcement, training, and utility work. The H135's multi-role cabin configurations and advanced safety systems make it an ideal choice for such diverse operations.
The first helicopter is scheduled for delivery in October 2024. Bristow Group Inc., the leading global provider of innovative and sustainable vertical flight solutions, already operates a fleet of 10 H135 family helicopters. The new helicopters will further bolster their capabilities, enabling them to serve their clients more efficiently, particularly offshore energy companies and government entities.
The H135 cockpit is night vision goggle compatible and includes a First Limit Indicator for enhanced pilot awareness. It features three large electronic displays, ensuring clear and concise information at all times.
With more than 7 million flight hours accumulated by H135 helicopters globally, the H135 is a reliable choice for operators like Bristow Group. The H135's dual-pilot IFR certification, digital AFCS for stability and ease of control, and compatibility with advanced mission equipment like night vision and real-time data links make it an attractive option for various operational roles.
This partnership underscores Airbus Helicopters' commitment to delivering innovative and reliable solutions to its customers, while Bristow Group continues to expand its fleet with aircraft that meet the demands of their diverse operations.
