Bridges in Gleisdreieck Park to be replaced by new constructions - BVG Finally Unveils Plans to Replace Deteriorating Gleisdreieck Park Bridges
Berlin's public transport authority, BVG, has finally submitted plans for the demolition and replacement of two deteriorating bridges in Gleisdreieck Park, seven months behind schedule. The project management, set to begin in 2023, will impact the parkland and require public review.
The construction will necessitate the felling of 15 trees and the temporary use of nearly 11,000 square meters of parkland. The project aims to replace the aging structures of Brücken Struktur XII and Dennewitzbrücke, which have shown signs of structural damage since 2016.
The public will have the opportunity to review the plans and submit objections from November 3 until early January. The playgrounds beneath the bridges have been closed off since the damage was first identified, with no confirmed start date for the construction yet.
The delayed project to rebuild the bridges in Gleisdreieck Park is now underway, with public input sought before project management begins. The impact on the park's trees and land is inevitable, but the aim is to improve the safety and longevity of the bridges for future generations.
