BVG's Biggest Auction Yet: Over 1,900 Lost Items Up for Grabs
Berlin's public transport authority, BVG, is set to hold an auction on Thursday, October 17, featuring an array of over 1,900 items. These include bicycles, watches, jewelry, clothing, and cameras, all of which were lost and unclaimed within Berlin's transport network.
BVG conducts such auctions four times a year, offering a chance for the public to bid on unclaimed items. The owners of these items, numbering around 1,900, have not reclaimed them within six weeks of being found. Typically, about 35 percent of all found items are returned to their owners during this period.
The auction will take place at Auction House Beier in Tempelhof. Doors will open at 8:00 AM, with bidding commencing promptly at 10:00 AM. This is not the first time Auction House Beier has hosted an unusual event. Last August, it sold the contents of a former DDR museum in Brandenburg.
If you've lost an item on Berlin's public transport and haven't reclaimed it within six weeks, you might find it at this auction. The event offers a chance to bid on a wide range of items, with proceeds going towards supporting BVG's lost property management. Happy bidding!
