Camper Van Crash in Prenzlauer Berg Injures Five, Derailed Tram
A serious collision on Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Schönhauser Allee and Wisbyer Straße in Prenzlauer Berg left five people injured. A 60-year old man driving a camper van was involved in a chain reaction, colliding with multiple cars before crashing into an oncoming tram.
The incident began when the camper van driver lost control, striking three cars and a motorcycle. A 62-year-old motorcyclist and the drivers of the three cars sustained injuries. None of the tram passengers or its driver were hurt despite the vehicle being derailed. The van's driver suffered head and upper body injuries and was promptly hospitalized. The collision closed the intersection for two hours while emergency services attended to the scene.
Five people were injured in total, with the camper van driver in a serious condition. The intersection remained closed for two hours as authorities worked to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the crash.
