Carp Season Kicks Off in Franconia with Minister-President Söder's Support
The new carp season in Franconia kicked off with an event at the Seerose Gasthof in the Fürth district, organized by the 'MeinAcker' project. This marks the start of a season that significantly contributes to the regional economy, with an estimated 750 tons of carp consumed. Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder attended the 'event near me', showing his support for the industry and its challenges.
Carp fishing is deeply rooted in Franconia's culture, with around 5,500 pond owners managing over 20,000 hectares of ponds. The season runs from September to April and is celebrated with events like the recent 'Abfischen' at Langenzenn ponds, organized by the regional initiative 'Gutes aus dem Fürther Land' and the district of Fürth. Carp is also a regional specialty, often served in traditional 'Fischküchen'.
Markus Söder, who has a personal connection to Franconia and its rural regions, acknowledged the struggles faced by pond owners. He expressed his commitment to supporting the industry, which plays a crucial role in the local economy.
The carp season's successful start was marked by the 'main event' at Seerose Gasthof, with Markus Söder's attendance highlighting the importance of the industry. District Administrator Bernd Obst thanked Söder for his visit and wished the season a prosperous course, with an estimated 750 tons of carp to be consumed during this 'summer' period.
