CDU secures victory in Wiesbaden's local elections with 21 seats
The final results of the local elections in Wiesbaden have now been confirmed. The electoral committee reviewed votes from 247 polling districts before announcing the official figures.
Turnout stood at 48.09%, with 99,964 of the 207,874 eligible voters casting their ballots.
The CDU secured the highest number of votes, receiving 1,997,559 and winning 21 seats. The SPD followed with 1,684,045 votes, earning 18 seats. The Green Party took 1,149,630 votes, gaining 12 seats in total.
AfD received 900,643 votes, which translated into 10 seats. The Left won 586,762 votes, securing 6 seats, while Volt obtained 335,644 votes and 4 seats. The Party, with 40,981 votes, managed to claim a single seat. Out of 7,553,464 ballots cast, 3,380 were deemed invalid. The electoral office also processed documents from the foreign residents' council election alongside the city and local district council votes.
The results confirm the CDU as the leading party in Wiesbaden's local government. All seats have now been allocated based on the verified vote counts. The newly elected council will begin its term with the distribution of power set by these figures.
