Cebu’s 461st Fiesta Señor 2026 unveils expanded schedule and traditions

The Archdiocese of Cebu has announced the schedule for the 461st Fiesta Señor, set to take place in January 2026 at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu (BMSN). The event aims to involve devotees from Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, and nearby cities, continuing the tradition.

The fluvial procession will kick off the celebrations on Saturday, January 17, followed by the Solemn Procession in the afternoon and the Visperas Mass in the evening. The feast day itself will be celebrated on January 18, with the theme 'In Sto. Niño We Are One'. Fr. Jules Van Villa Almerez, OSA, the parish priest, hopes these changes will allow more people to participate.

Pre-Fiesta Señor Activities will begin on December 27, 2025, with the Opening Salvo and novena masses from January 8 to 16, 2026. The Walk with Mary will take place on January 15, and the image of Santo Niño will be transferred to the St. Joseph National Shrine in Mandaue City for the Translacion. On January 16, the image will be taken to the Nuestra Señora de Regla Shrine in Lapu-Lapu City for an overnight stay.

Security measures will be in place from January 8 to 23, including the prohibition of large backpacks and the requirement to use transparent bags. The carrying of sharp objects, wallets, and large items is also prohibited to ensure the safety of all attendees. The official galleon is M/V Lite Ferry Ten of Lite Shipping Corporation, and Edgar Mary Sarmiento and his wife, Jennifer Helen Weigel Sarmiento, are the Hermano and Hermana Mayores for the event.
