Change at the top of the Enni Supervisory Board Mayor Julia Zupancic succeeds Volker Marschmann

The number of supervisory board meetings chaired by Volker Marschmann can be quickly estimated - around 90 over 21 years. One thing is certain: the latest meeting at the beginning of December was his last.

Enni, a diversified corporate group and regional utility, is entering a new leadership phase. After 21 years under Volker Marschmann’s guidance, the company will soon see women leading both its executive and supervisory teams. The changes mark a shift in direction for the organisation, which has returned over €350 million to municipal shareholders for local projects.

Volker Marschmann first took charge of Enni’s supervisory board in 2004. Over four electoral terms, he chaired around 90 meetings, with the most recent session held in early December 2025. The board, which includes representatives from Moers, Neukirchen-Vluyn, employees, and private shareholders, meets at least four times a year.

Under Marschmann’s leadership, alongside CEO Stefan Krämer, Enni expanded into a nationally active utility. The company has reinvested more than €350 million into its municipal owners, supporting initiatives like swimming complexes and sustainable urban development.

Now, a leadership transition is underway. Julia Zupancic, mayor of Moers, has been elected as the new supervisory board chair—the first to also lead Enni’s administrative council. By mid-2026, Julia Kaufmann will replace Krämer as CEO. This means both the executive and supervisory roles will be held by women for the first time in the company’s history.

The changes will take full effect by next summer. Zupancic’s dual role and Kaufmann’s appointment as CEO signal a new chapter for Enni. The company’s long-standing financial contributions to local communities will continue under the updated leadership structure.
