Change in the management of the Senior Center Göttingen
Seniorenzentrum Göttingen gGmbH will have a new managing director from January 2026. Christoph Sternadel, a former advisor to Lord Mayor Petra Broistedt, has been chosen to replace Kai Osterhorn. The change follows Osterhorn’s decision to leave after seven years in the role.
Kai Osterhorn has led the senior centre since 2019, guiding it through difficult periods such as the coronavirus pandemic and staff shortages. Lord Mayor Petra Broistedt, who chairs the supervisory board, thanked him for his commitment and strong leadership during these challenges.
Osterhorn will not be leaving the care sector entirely. Instead, he will take on a new role as managing director of the Evangelical Foundation Alt- und Neu-Bethlehem. His successor there, Dr. Martin Henssler, will begin as CEO in Hamburg on 1 January 2025. Christoph Sternadel brings experience from his time at city hall, where he worked closely with Broistedt for four years. The mayor highlighted his ability to push forward long-term projects while keeping a focus on people. His appointment aims to build on the progress made under Osterhorn’s leadership.
The transition will see Sternadel step into his new position in early 2026. Osterhorn’s departure marks the end of a seven-year tenure, during which he steered the centre through significant challenges. Meanwhile, Dr. Martin Henssler will take charge of the Evangelical Foundation in Hamburg at the start of next year.
