Chaos Erupts: Youth Football Team Attacked in Central, Coach Injured
A youth football team's return to their accommodation on Rosenthal Street in Central turned chaotic last night. A 17-year-old threatened the coach, leading to a 14-year-old punching him, causing the team to disperse. The police are now investigating suspected robbery, assault, threats, and weapons law violations.
The incident began when a 20-year-old coach and his team got into an argument with another group of teens. A 17-year-old from this group threatened the coach. In response, a 14-year-old player punched the coach, resulting in facial injuries. The team scattered, and the coach was treated at a hospital.
A 14-year-old player was later found to have been pushed to the ground, kicked, beaten, and robbed by the attacking group. A 37-year-old who tried to intervene was threatened. A 20-year-old witness chased after the 17-year-old attacker but was hindered when an unknown person kicked the witness's leg, allowing the 17-old to initially escape. The witness and the youth player were treated at the scene by paramedics.
The police discovered that the 17-year-old was in possession of a convincing replica gun during the investigation.
