Police Notices Fire During Deployment - Restaurant Evacuated - Chaos in Bad Marienberg as crash and restaurant fire strike simultaneously

A serious traffic collision and a restaurant fire disrupted Bad Marienberg on the same day. A 19-year-old driver hit a cyclist, leaving the rider with severe injuries. Meanwhile, a fast-food restaurant caught fire, forcing an evacuation by police already at the scene.

The incident began when the teenage driver failed to spot a 49-year-old cyclist ahead. The collision left the rider badly hurt, prompting an emergency airlift to hospital.

As officers responded to the crash, they noticed smoke from a nearby restaurant serving food. The blaze, likely caused by food left unattended on the stove, required a full evacuation. The cook was treated for smoke inhalation, but no other injuries were reported.

Firefighters quickly brought the flames under control. Investigators later confirmed that burnt food had triggered the fire.

The cyclist remains in hospital with serious injuries after the crash. The restaurant fire caused no major structural damage, though the cook required medical attention. Authorities continue to examine both incidents separately.
