Chaos unfolds in Limburg-Weilburg with crashes, assaults, and a hit-and-run overnight
A series of traffic incidents and violent confrontations kept police busy in the Limburg-Weilburg district over the past 24 hours. A suspected drunk driver caused a three-vehicle crash in Eschhofen, while a hit-and-run left a Mercedes Vito damaged. Meanwhile, a 39-year-old man was arrested after attacking officers in Weilburg, and a teenage motorcyclist crashed on County Road 490.
The first incident occurred in Eschhofen when a VW driver, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, swerved into oncoming traffic and lost control. The collision involved an Audi and a Dacia, leaving five occupants with minor injuries. All were taken to nearby hospitals for checks. Police took a blood sample from the VW driver and estimated the total damage at around €7,500. Witnesses are urged to call Limburg Police on +49 6431 9140-140 with any details.
A separate hit-and-run took place in the same area after a driver reversed into a parked Mercedes Vito and fled. Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact +49 6431 9140-0. In Weilburg, a 39-year-old local man was detained following a violent outburst. He lifted manhole covers, overturned a bench, and punched two officers before being restrained. Both officers suffered minor injuries during the struggle. The suspect now faces charges of resisting arrest, assault, and making threats. Elsewhere, a 16-year-old motorcyclist lost control on a bend along County Road 490 and collided with an oncoming car. The rider escaped with minor injuries, but the crash caused significant damage to the vehicles involved.
Police investigations into the incidents are ongoing. The drunk-driving suspect's blood sample will determine whether alcohol played a role in the Eschhofen crash. Authorities continue to seek witnesses for both the hit-and-run and the three-vehicle collision. The arrested man remains in custody pending further legal action.
