Chicago’s CTA expands 24/7 transit and bus network by 2026

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has announced significant improvements to its public transport services. By 2026, the Orange Line will operate 24/7, and the Frequent Bus Network will expand to ten additional routes. Enhanced cleaning efforts are also planned for vehicles and facilities.

These changes are part of a broader initiative led by the CTA, overseen by the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA). Kirk Dillard, RTA Chair, has emphasized that these improvements will not come at the cost of increased fares or service cuts. The CTA board, including former Chief Equity and Engagement Officer Denise W. Barreto, is driving these efforts.

The Orange Line's extended service hours will provide increased convenience and accessibility to late-night commuters. Meanwhile, the expansion of the Frequent Bus Network will offer more frequent and reliable service on up to ten additional routes. This will benefit both residents and visitors, making it easier to navigate the city.

The CTA's commitment to enhancing its services is evident in these upcoming changes. The 24/7 Orange Line service and expanded Frequent Bus Network will improve mobility and accessibility for all. Additionally, the enhanced cleaning efforts will ensure a safer and more comfortable journey for passengers.
