China's CPPCC session concludes with bold plans for 2026–2030 development

The annual session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) concluded in Beijing on Wednesday under clear skies and a warm spring breeze. Top leaders, including President Xi Jinping, attended the closing meeting at the Great Hall of the People, where officials reviewed key decisions and proposals for the nation's future.

Over the past eight days, political advisors discussed major plans, including the draft outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030). They also reviewed work reports from key government bodies and examined draft laws. During the session, members submitted a wide range of suggestions covering long-term national development as well as everyday concerns of ordinary citizens.

The CPPCC reported strong engagement over the past year, with 5,992 proposals submitted and a 99.9 percent response rate. Events organised by the committee benefited over 4 million people. At the closing meeting, 2,059 members approved several resolutions and work reports. Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, led the session and highlighted its productive outcomes. He urged advisors to focus on proposals that improve people's lives and ensure modernisation benefits everyone. Junius Ho Kwan-yiu, a CPPCC member, expressed confidence in China's continued progress in the coming years. The 'two sessions'—which include the CPPCC and the National People's Congress—drew global attention. International media such as Reuters, the Wall Street Journal, and Deutsche Welle covered China's AI advancements and potential policy changes emerging from the meetings.

The CPPCC session wrapped up with a series of approved resolutions and a call for greater public-focused initiatives. The discussions and proposals from this year's meetings will shape policies affecting both national development and daily life. International observers continue to monitor the outcomes as China moves forward with its strategic plans.
