China’s New Consul General Strengthens Ties with Landshut in Historic Visit
Qiu Xuejun, the freshly appointed Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Munich, has chosen Landshut as his inaugural official city visit. Mayor Alexander Putz warmly welcomed him at City Hall, accompanied by senior representatives of the German-Chinese Association for Economy, Education, and Culture (DCG).
The Consul General's visit to Landshut was hailed as a positive sign for the future of international cooperation at the regional level. Landshut was commended for its excellent transport infrastructure, high quality of life, and skilled workforce, making it an appealing location for Chinese companies.
Both Qiu Xuejun and Mayor Putz concurred that encouraging tourist exchanges would foster deeper cultural understanding and fortify bilateral relations. They agreed to actively promote the establishment of Chinese businesses in Landshut to attract investment and create jobs. The Landshut-based DCG, led by Chairman Bernd Einmeier, has been committed to fostering German-Chinese relations for years.
The new Consul General, the mayor, and the DCG have agreed to collaborate, with a key focus on the tourism sector. They aim to develop a strategy to attract Chinese tourists and showcase Bavaria and the Landshut region. Both parties have emphasised the importance of long-standing relations between China and Germany, committing to deepen cooperation in education, culture, tourism, and economic ties.
