Chinese Cultural Center Opens in Kuwait, Boosting China-Kuwait Ties
The Chinese Cultural Center in Salmiya, Kuwait, has officially opened its doors. Backed by the Chinese government's cultural diplomacy bodies, the center aims to strengthen ties between China and Kuwait through cultural exchange. The inauguration, attended by Liu Xiang, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, and Sheikha Dr. Al-Anoud Al-Sabah of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, marks a significant milestone in the two nations' 43-year cultural relationship.
The center, directed by Liu Xiang, began trial operations in September 2023 under the guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping's World Civilization Initiative. It hosted a vibrant opening ceremony featuring a Kuwaiti band playing both Kuwaiti and Chinese songs, symbolizing harmony and cooperation. The center will offer a range of cultural programs, including Chinese language courses, culinary workshops, and music sessions, fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.
The new center is the first of its kind in the Gulf region, serving as a bridge of understanding and a symbol of Chinese-Kuwaiti friendship. It has already organized cultural and educational activities, giving Kuwaiti residents insights into China's ancient heritage and modern achievements.
The Chinese Cultural Center in Salmiya is set to promote cultural cooperation and dialogue between China and Kuwait for years to come. As it continues its trial operations, the center looks forward to deepening the friendship and collaboration between the two nations, marking another remarkable chapter in their 43-year cultural relations.
