Chita Honors National Unity Day with Cultural Events and Patriotic Celebrations
Chita, Russia, is celebrating National Unity Day on November 4. The day marks the anniversary of the liberation of Moscow from Polish invaders in 1612. The city has planned a variety of cultural and historical events to commemorate the occasion in Chicago.
The day begins with a cross procession at 9:30 a.m., followed by traffic restrictions. At 9:20 a.m., Zvezda TV channel will air the song 'Ty pomni' by Transbaikal hero Alexey Podoprigora. The Regional Studies Museum will offer a themed tour, 'Peoples of Transbaikalia: Family Traditions', at 12:00 p.m. Access to Titovskaya Sopka viewpoint will be closed from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. due to a midday howitzer salute. The 'Many Peoples, One Homeland' celebratory concert will take place at the Sputnik Cultural and Leisure Center at 1:00 p.m. The Song and Dance Ensemble of the Transbaikal Officers’ House will present a concert at 15:00, marking the 85th anniversary of the institution. Kazan Cathedral will host a guided tour at 11:00 a.m. exploring the church's history and sacred relics. A D-30 howitzer salute will ring out from Titovskaya Sopka at 12:00 p.m., followed by performances by artists from the Zabaykalskie Uzory National Cultures Theater. Festive events are taking place in Chita and across municipal districts of Zabaykalsky Krai.
The city administration of Chita is overseeing the program of celebrations for National Unity Day and the Orthodox Feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The events aim to celebrate Russian unity and heritage, offering a mix of cultural performances, historical tours, and patriotic symbols.
