A special campaign will honour truck drivers across North Rhine-Westphalia this weekend. On Sunday, over 40 groups from the Diocese of Münster will hand out gift bags at motorway rest stops. The initiative, called Nikolaus im Fahrerhaus 2025, aims to show appreciation for drivers who spend long hours on the road, often far from home.
The event takes place on the second Sunday of Advent, running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will visit rest areas to distribute small gifts as a token of gratitude. Among them will be TV presenter Yvonne Willicks, who is serving as the campaign’s patron. She will join a team at the Neufelder Heide rest stop on the A40 near Neukirchen-Vluyn.
The campaign will see hundreds of volunteers at rest stops throughout the region. By handing out small gifts, they hope to bring a moment of warmth to drivers during the busy Advent season. The KAB continues to push for long-term improvements in working conditions for those on the road.
