His 'Tatort' episodes remain online for now - Christian Ulmen faces deepfake and fraud allegations from ex-wife Collien Fernandes
German actor Christian Ulmen is facing serious allegations from his ex-wife, Collien Fernandes. The claims, published by Der Spiegel in March 2026, include identity fraud, defamation, and the distribution of deepfake pornography. Broadcasters and streaming platforms have begun responding to the controversy in different ways.
The allegations first surfaced in a Der Spiegel report on 19 March 2026. Fernandes accused Ulmen of creating fake online profiles in her name, contacting men, and spreading explicit content—including AI-generated deepfakes. She has since filed a criminal complaint in Spain, where the couple last lived, charging him with identity fraud, defamation, and bodily harm. A Spanish court has now launched preliminary investigations into the case.
Ulmen's lawyer has strongly denied the claims, calling the media coverage 'unlawful on multiple grounds.' Legal action is being prepared against Der Spiegel for what the lawyer describes as one-sided reporting. Meanwhile, Deutsche Telekom confirmed that Ulmen's advertising contract with the company had already ended in spring 2025.
Broadcasters have reacted differently to the controversy. ProSieben removed Ulmen's hit series jerks. from its streaming platform, though a spokesperson stressed the company still respects the presumption of innocence. ARD, however, has kept all Tatort episodes featuring Ulmen available in its media library. The public broadcaster stated it is monitoring the situation but has not ruled out further steps.
The legal process is now underway in Spain, with preliminary court investigations beginning. Ulmen's legal team continues to challenge the allegations, while broadcasters weigh their responses. The outcome of the case could influence future decisions on his work in German media.
