Christoph Schmidt to Lead Solingen’s Europa-Union as New Chairman
Christoph Schmidt has been elected as the new chairman of the Europa-Union chapter in Solingen. The 30-year-old takes on the role within a non-partisan organisation that promotes a democratic and federal Europe. He expressed enthusiasm about the European Union’s potential to address major challenges affecting all citizens.
The election took place during a recent meeting of the local chapter. Schmidt, who works as managing director of Solingen’s CDU parliamentary group, will lead alongside a newly appointed board. This includes Mayor Ioanna Zacharaki, Sylvia Schlemper, Hans-Eberhard Bisier, Richard Schmidt, and Martin Stamm.
The Solingen chapter now has a full executive board in place. Their focus will be on continuing the chapter’s long-standing commitment to European unity. Educational initiatives and public engagement remain central to their work.
