City Administration Dismisses AfD's Seat Allocation Objections
The city administration has dismissed three objections against the calculation of seat allocation in the city council. The objections were filed by Michael Kirbach, Anissa Saysay, and Bodo Gilz, the city association speaker of AfD. The newly formed Wahlprüfungsausschuss, led by chairman Marcel Christensen (CDU), reviewed the objections and found them invalid.
The objectors, Michael Kirbach, Anissa Saysay, and Bodo Gilz, argued their case based on bylaws they believed were applicable. However, the city administration refuted this, stating that the cited bylaws do not apply to this specific situation. The objections were also found to be based on incorrect legal grounds, rendering them invalid.
The North Rhine-Westphalia Municipal Election Act regulates objections to the determination of the election result. Any voter or party can file an objection within a month after the election result is announced if they have doubts about its validity. The Wahlprüfungsausschuss is responsible for the initial review of these objections.
