City Invites Residents to Shape Main Station Area's Future
The city is inviting residents to participate in shaping the future of the Main Station Area. An eventbrite will take place on October 9th at 6 PM at BC III, Willy-Brandt-Platz 13, Ground Floor. The aim is to create a modern, sustainable, and livable neighborhood with a mix of uses, including around 600 housing units, 30% of which will be affordable.
The eventbrite will showcase plans for the area, which include green spaces, sustainable concepts like sponge city elements and a specific energy concept for climate protection. The development plan will be finalized by the first or early second quarter of 2026, with public inputs evaluated and included if possible.
The neighborhood will also feature offices, gastronomy, commerce, social facilities, and two new daycare centers. Sustainable mobility is a key focus, with an ambitious mobility concept and bicycle parking facilities. Car parking spaces will be concentrated in neighborhood garages.
Public participation is ongoing, with planning documents available online at www.ourwebsite.de/public-building-plans and on info PCs in the Old Town Hall. The responsible authority for the final approval and submission of the development plan will be determined later. The city encourages residents to engage in this process to help shape the future of the Main Station Area.
