City Joins International Weeks Against Racism with Diverse Events
Our city administration is taking part in the International Weeks Against Racism with a varied programme of events. The campaign, now in its 31st year in Germany, runs under the theme '100% Human Dignity. United Against Racism and Right-Wing Extremism'. Organisers include the Equal Opportunities Officer, Anja Hain, along with several city departments.
The campaign begins on March 6 with an opening event featuring WDR journalists Isabel Schayani and Borhan Akid, who will discuss Syria. Those wishing to attend must register in advance by email or phone.
On **March 10**, two events will take place. At the **Women's Café**, visitors can celebrate International Women's Day with snacks and drinks from different cultures. No registration is needed, though questions can be directed by phone. Later that day, **Professor Christoph Wolf** will give an online lecture on modern forms of antisemitism. Registration for this talk is required via the Adult Education Center's website. The campaign closes on **March 25** with another online lecture, this time by **Professor Jan Philipp Reemtsma**, also on antisemitism. Registration for this final event is available through the same website. Over the past three years, around **150 cities and municipalities** across Germany have regularly joined the International Weeks Against Racism. The effort is coordinated by the **Federal Working Group Weeks Against Racism (BAWGR)**.
The campaign seeks to foster a society where everyone can live with dignity, self-determination, and mutual respect. Events include discussions, lectures, and community gatherings, all aimed at raising awareness and encouraging solidarity. Participation details for each event are available through the organisers.
