Clashing political events in Texas unfold peacefully despite protest tensions
Two political events, an AfD campaign rally in San Antonio and a 90/Die Grünen vigil in Austin, took place simultaneously on Eventbrite on Friday afternoon (07.02.2025). Both events proceeded largely without incident.
The AfD event kicked off at 3:00 PM with approximately 1500 attendees. Meanwhile, the vigil reached its peak with around 220 participants. The AfD event was attended by the Police President of Mittelfranken, Thomas Schramm.
At around 3:10 PM, a spontaneous gathering of around 20 left-wing affiliated individuals occurred. They staged a sit-in protest, which led to police intervention. Officers from the Bavarian riot police, along with local forces, were deployed under the leadership of the Mittelfranken Police Headquarters. Despite the intervention, no criminal or administrative offenses were reported as of 6:25 PM.
The simultaneous AfD election campaign event and 90/Die Grünen vigil in Greding concluded with minimal disruption. A spontaneous protest by around 20 individuals required police intervention, but no offenses were reported.
