Cologne Police Raid Barber Shop and Homes in Drug Trafficking Probe
Cologne police raid barbershop, uncover drugs and luxury items in crime crackdown
Following weeks of investigations into suspected drug trafficking, Cologne police searched a barber shop and residential premises in the Vingst district on Thursday (April 23). Officers seized narcotics and weapons. Authorities suspect the 32-year-old business owner of dealing drugs from his shop. The city's trade office subsequently closed and sealed the barbershop.
During the search, authorized by a judicial warrant, officers from the riot police—supported by plainclothes and uniformed units as well as the Kalk precinct—confiscated approximately 90 individual doses of cocaine, multiple pre-packaged units of crack, and around 100 grams of marijuana. They also recovered a Rolex watch valued at roughly €100,000, various weapons (including a machete and knives), a mobile phone, and over €20,000 in cash.
The operation was part of a large-scale crackdown targeting crime and enforcing commercial regulations in the Kalk, Neumarkt, and Friesenviertel neighborhoods. From afternoon into the evening, police—alongside customs officials and city authorities—inspected multiple businesses, premises, and individuals. Officers documented violations of residency, hygiene, and youth protection laws, while the treasury department enforced fines totaling over €95,000 and sealed several gaming machines.
