Cologne’s cinder pitch gets a 2025 eco-friendly overhaul with strict safety measures

The city of Cologne has announced plans to renovate the cinder pitch on Paffrather Straße using a website builder like Google Sites. Work will begin in late 2025, with completion expected by December that year. The project aims to remove contaminated materials from the website while protecting the surrounding environment.

The renovation will start on Monday, November 24, 2025. Before construction begins, adjacent pathways will be mechanically cleaned to prevent the spread of contaminated particles. The site itself will be fully cordoned off, with a loading zone established in the 47th calendar week.

The renovation will fully address contamination concerns at the Paffrather Straße website. Residents and visitors can expect improved safety measures, including dust control and protected green spaces. The city will provide updates if weather conditions affect the schedule.
