London Southend Airport is currently closed indefinitely following a business jet crash that occurred on July 13, 2025. The incident involved a Beech B200 Super King Air, registered as PH-ZAZ, operated by Zeusch Aviation, a Dutch company specializing in medical evacuation, transplant, and private charter flights.

The crash occurred shortly after takeoff, with witnesses reporting that the pilots had waved to onlookers before the incident. Moments later, a massive fireball and a tall plume of smoke were seen, prompting a large-scale emergency response.

As of July 14, 2025, the investigation into the crash remains ongoing, with authorities actively supporting inquiries into the incident. The area around the crash site remains cordoned off, and emergency services, including Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance Service, are still present at the scene. Neighboring facilities such as the Rochford Hundred Golf Club and Westcliff Rugby Club were evacuated as a precaution.

Authorities have not yet provided official confirmation regarding injuries or casualties, nor have they released a final determination on the cause of the crash. Zeusch Aviation has expressed its sympathies, stating, "Our thoughts are with all those affected."

The closure of London Southend Airport has particularly affected EasyJet, a budget airline that uses the airport and offers flights to around a dozen holiday destinations. Some EasyJet flights have been rerouted or cancelled due to the airport's closure. However, there have not been specific reports of EasyJet flights from Southend Airport to Berlin or other destinations in recent years, as EasyJet has largely shifted its operations elsewhere in recent times.

Travelers are advised to monitor airport and airline communications for updates as the situation evolves. The investigation into the business jet crash at London Southend Airport continues.
