Concerned NDC members in Larabanga petition President Mahama

A group of NDC supporters in Larabanga has formally raised concerns over what they describe as years of neglect by party leaders. On December 10, 2025, they submitted a petition to President John Dramani Mahama, calling for greater recognition of their contributions. The community has long been a loyal stronghold for the party but claims it has been sidelined in key appointments.

The petition highlights Larabanga’s history of steadfast support for the NDC, even during difficult political periods. Despite this loyalty, residents argue they have been overlooked for national and regional positions. Many qualified professionals from the area, they claim, have never been considered for roles.

The group also warned that this perceived neglect risks weakening the NDC’s grip on the constituency. They fear the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could exploit the frustration to gain influence in Larabanga. To prevent this, the petitioners urged the president to prioritise appointments from the community. In addition to the president, the document was copied to regional and constituency party leaders. The petitioners demanded an end to what they called the deliberate sidelining of Larabanga. Ibrahim Abu-Nawas, serving as both secretary and spokesperson for the group, signed the appeal on their behalf. The submission was made through the Regional Minister, though the name of the individual who physically presented it was not disclosed.

The petition now rests with President Mahama and the NDC leadership for a response. If addressed, it could lead to greater representation for Larabanga in government and party structures. Without action, the group suggests the NDC’s support base in the area may continue to feel undervalued.
