Conservative Scholar Robert George Resigns from Heritage Foundation Over Nick Fuentes Controversy
Robert George, a prominent conservative academic, stepped down from the Heritage Foundation’s Board of Trustees on Monday. His departure followed a dispute with the organization’s president, Kevin D. Roberts, over a controversial job interview involving white supremacist Nick Fuentes. George cited an 'impasse' with leadership as the reason for his resignation.
The conflict began after Roberts defended Tucker Carlson’s interview with Fuentes, a figure known for Holocaust denial and extremist views. In a video statement, Roberts claimed he did not want to 'cancel' Carlson or Fuentes, despite disagreeing with Fuentes’ beliefs. He later admitted he knew little about Fuentes and confirmed that the aide responsible for drafting his remarks had resigned.
George’s exit marks the end of his five-year tenure on the board. His resignation highlights ongoing tensions within the Heritage Foundation over its stance on extremist figures. The organization now faces questions about its direction under Roberts’ leadership.
