Construction Begins on Juru-Sungai Dua Traffic Dispersal Project
Construction on the Juru-Sungai Dua Traffic Dispersal project has begun, with the chief minister of Penang, Chow Kon Yeow, expressing his satisfaction. The project, part of the Penang Transport Master Plan, aims to ease congestion along the affected stretch, benefiting approximately 200,000 daily users.
Package One of the project, set to launch on November 8 by the Prime Minister, involves upgrading the roundabout at the East-West Interchange and constructing a new bridge on Jalan Tun Hussein Onn. This package is part of the RM3 billion Juru - Sungai Dua Elevated Highway, stretching 17.3km with 9km elevated. The project is expected to take about 24 months and is part of the overall PTJSD project management.
The preliminary works will not disrupt traffic flow, with the two existing lanes in both directions of the highway remaining open to users. The project is anticipated to fully complete by 2030, with the state hoping for completion within four to five years.
The Juru-Sungai Dua Traffic Dispersal project, broken into multiple packages, is a significant step towards reducing congestion in the area. With the official launch scheduled for November 8, the project is set to bring relief to the 200,000 daily users along the affected stretch.
