In a series of incidents over the weekend, several individuals found themselves in trouble with the law due to their actions under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

On the night of September 7, 2025, police officers from the PI Verden town center in Wahnebergen controlled a 25-year-old driver who was driving at high speed during another incident. The driver's license presented was found to be a forgery, and a subsequent test revealed the influence of alcohol and narcotics in the driver. As a result, the driver was required to undergo a blood test and was prohibited from continuing his journey. The primarily affected top-floor apartment and the apartment below it sustain significant property damage, and the driver now faces several criminal proceedings.

Meanwhile, in Thedinghausen, a fire broke out in the kitchen of a top-floor apartment in Bahnhofstraße on Saturday morning. The fire was contained before it spread to the entire building, but five residents of the residential complex suffered minor injuries from inhaling smoke. No further details were provided about the cause of the fire.

Elsewhere, on Saturday evening, an 18-year-old crashed his bicycle while on his way home from a harvest festival in Blender, resulting in facial injuries. The controlled driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol during the stop, and a breath alcohol test showed a value of 2.22 per mille for the young man. A criminal procedure has been initiated against the 18-year-old for driving under the influence.

In a separate incident on the night to Sunday, a 61-year-old Audi driver from Poland was stopped by officers from the Langwedel motorway police. No information is available about a person arrested by the police in Wahnebergen on September 7, 2025, under the influence of alcohol and drugs. An adjacent third residential unit in Wahnebergen is affected to a lesser extent.

These incidents serve as a reminder of the dangers and consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. It is essential for everyone to take responsibility for their actions and prioritise safety on the roads.
