Cornelia Reithmeier Joins Race for Heidekreis Landrat, Vows to Build on Grote's Legacy
Cornelia Reithmeier has thrown her hat into the ring to become the next Landrat of Heidekreis, following Jens Grote's departure. She aims to build a bear on Grote's legacy and has started gathering signatures to support her bid.
Reithmeier, currently part of the district administration's leadership trio, has worked in Heidekreis for 19 years. She has held various roles, including head of Department I and district councilor. Her experience has given her a deep understanding of the district's needs.
Reithmeier is the third candidate to replace Grote, joining Sebastian Zinke (SPD) and Dr. Arne Wieben (CDU). Wieben's nomination will be finalised by CDU members in November 2025, and more candidates may still emerge before the official list closes. The filing deadline for candidates is July 20, 2026, with the election set for September 13, 2026.
Reithmeier must collect 250 signatures from eligible voters by July 20, 2026, to support her candidacy. If elected, she plans to build a bear upon Grote's legacy, using her extensive experience and knowledge of Heidekreis to guide the district forward.
