Cornwall secures emergency flights to London after airline collapse
Cornwall Council has secured a temporary deal with Skybus to restore air links between Cornwall and London. The agreement fulfills a Public Service Obligation (PSO) mandating a route between Cornwall Airport Newquay and London Gatwick. Previously, Eastern Airways operated this service but went into administration, canceling all flights and making staff redundant. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) advised passengers not to travel to the airport. The new Skybus service is set to commence in late November, initially with daily flights, increasing to twice-daily on weekdays by February 2023. The process to find a long-term replacement is ongoing. The interim deal with Skybus ensures continued air connectivity between Cornwall and London. The search for a permanent replacement continues, with the most up-to-date information available from official channels such as Cornwall Airport Newquay and the UK Department for Transport.
