CORRECTIV Unveils Decade-Long Investigations at Leipzig Book Fair
Germany's first nonprofit investigative newsroom, CORRECTIV, will present its work at this year's Leipzig Book Fair. The event will explore how journalism challenges powerful institutions, from the Catholic Church to political systems.
Visitors can meet the team, join debates, and purchase signed books at Booth F103 in Hall 2.
CORRECTIV has spent over a decade uncovering major scandals, often with international reach. One of its most significant projects exposed clerical abuse in the Catholic Church, revealing secret Vatican documents tied to cases in Portugal, the USA, Colombia, and Australia. These findings were later detailed in Files of Abuse: The Story of Organised Crime in the Vatican by Marcus Bensmann and Anna Kassin.
The organisation will also discuss its eight-year investigation into the Church's abuse crisis, documented in The CORRECTIV Story by co-founder David Schraven. His book traces how the newsroom pieced together evidence of systemic failings within one of the world's most powerful institutions.
Beyond religious scandals, the fair will examine broader power structures. Ukrainian journalist Maksym Eristavi will analyse Europe's future in light of Russia's imperial history. Other sessions will ask who truly controls decision-making in politics, business, and media.
Attendees can engage directly with CORRECTIV's journalists, take part in live discussions, and buy copies of their investigative books. The programme highlights how independent reporting holds authority to account.
The Leipzig Book Fair will give visitors a closer look at CORRECTIV's groundbreaking investigations. From Vatican cover-ups to geopolitical power struggles, the events will show how journalism exposes hidden influence.
Signed books, author talks, and debates will run throughout the fair at Booth F103 in Hall 2.
