The image shows a group of people standing on top of a playground, with a man holding a book and a child in a wheelchair. The playground is surrounded by a fence, grass, plants, a pathway, benches, a shed, a car on the ground, some poles, the bark of the trees, some houses with roofs, and a cloudy sky.

Council to debate Social Compensation Law and inclusive playground plans

An upcoming council meeting will feature an expert presentation on the new Social Compensation Law (SGB XIV). The session, open to the public, will also cover findings from the local care planning initiative for the Mettmann district. Residents are encouraged to attend and review the agenda online in advance.

The Rhineland Regional Association will lead the discussion on SGB XIV, outlining its key provisions and potential effects. Alongside this, officials will present results from the Initiative zur lokalen Pflegeplanung im Mettmanner Kreis, which ran from 2023 to 2025. As of March 2026, however, no public details exist on how this initiative has shaped care services for elderly or dependent residents.

The meeting will also welcome Lisa Weniger, the newly appointed deputy commissioner for people with disabilities. She is expected to introduce her role and priorities during the session.

Additionally, a joint motion from the CDU, Alliance 90/The Greens, and FDP factions will address the development of inclusive playgrounds. All supporting documents and the full agenda are accessible via the council's information system at our website.ratsinfomanagement.net.

The open meeting provides an opportunity for the public to learn about changes in social policy and local care planning. Attendees will also hear updates on disability advocacy and inclusive infrastructure projects. Further details can be found in the council's online consultation documents.
