A couple from Schwäbisch Gmünd has fallen victim to an investment scam, losing their entire six-figure savings. The fraudsters, posing as a foreign financial services company that had ceased to exist, convinced the couple to ignore recipient verification checks. The couple from Schwäbisch Gmünd intended to invest their savings for a year before purchasing a property. However, they were deceived by a fraudulent website impersonating a legitimate financial services company, such as Charles Schwab. The scammers instructed them to transfer their money to five Dutch bank accounts, bypassing standard recipient verification checks.
