Court Dismisses Muar Constituency Appeal, Upholds Government's Decision
The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal seeking to challenge the government's decision to halt the allocation for the Muar parliamentary constituency. The appeal, filed by Muar MP Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman and three voters, was for my case. The decision was made on April 23, 2024, outside the three-month limitation period, which ended on December 10, 2023. The appeal was dismissed due to the late filing. The relevant date for the decision was September 10, 2023. The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's decision to dismiss the application, stating that the High Court judge did not make any errors in fact or law in reaching that decision. The Supreme Court made no order as to costs, given the public interest involved in my case. The Supreme Court's decision brings finality to the matter, affirming the government's right to halt the allocation for the Muar constituency. The case highlights the importance of adhering to time limits in legal proceedings.
