Craig Hunter named Global Studios' new Managing Director to drive expansion
Global has named Craig Hunter as the new Managing Director of its podcast and digital production arm, Global Studios. The appointment follows a seven-year stint at STV Studios, where he served as Creative Director of Factual Programming. Hunter will now steer the company's creative and commercial expansion both in the UK and overseas.
Hunter brings a wealth of experience to the role. Before joining STV Studios, he worked as Lead Commissioning Editor for natural history and specialist factual content at the BBC. During his time at STV, he helped transform the studio into a major player in unscripted television, significantly increasing its output.
At Global Studios, Hunter will oversee a growing portfolio of original podcasts. These include well-known titles like *The News Agents*, *My Therapist Ghosted Me*, and the recently launched *Formula 1* podcast. He will also manage creative partnerships with production companies such as The Overlap and The Fellas Studios. Global's leadership has welcomed the appointment. Simon Pitts, the company's Group CEO, praised Hunter's creative vision and proven ability to deliver results. James Rea, Chief Broadcasting & Content Officer, similarly highlighted his skill in developing successful shows and building strong teams. Hunter himself described the opportunity as an 'exciting moment' and expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Pitts and Rea.
Hunter's arrival marks a new phase for Global Studios as it seeks to expand its reach in podcast and digital production. His leadership will focus on growing the company's creative output and commercial partnerships. The move follows a period of rapid development for the studio's original content slate.
