CSU reclaims power in Petershausen with eight council seats and a new mayor

The latest Petershausen municipal election has reshaped the town's political landscape. The CSU has regained its earlier influence, securing eight seats on the council. This marks a shift after years of gradual decline in their representation.

Between 2014 and 2026, the Petershausen city council saw steady changes in seat distribution. In 2014, the CSU held 14 seats, Freie Wähler had nine, the SPD kept four, and smaller parties took three. By 2020, the CSU dropped to 13 seats, losing one to Freie Wähler, while the SPD and others remained unchanged.

This year's election reversed that trend. The CSU gained two additional seats, bringing their total back to eight. Their mayoral candidate, Johannes Stadler, also won his race and now serves as both future mayor and deputy local party chair.

The party has signalled a commitment to working across political lines. Their focus will be on practical, issue-based cooperation with all council groups.

The CSU's recovery in Petershausen restores their position as a leading force in local politics. With eight seats and a new mayor, they enter the next term with a stronger presence. The emphasis on collaboration suggests a shift toward broader consensus-building in town decisions.
